…maybe that’s what life is about: there’s a lot of despair, but also the odd moment of beauty, where time is no longer the same. It’s as if those strains of music created a sort of interlude in time, somewhat suspended, an elsewhere that had come to us, an always within never.

Yes, that’s it, an always within never.

The Elegance of the Hedgehog, Muriel Barbery.

Once in a while a book comes along that has a profound effect on me. This is one of those times. With insights into  literature, music (from classical to Eminem!), movies (from Japanese to Black Rain and Blade Runner), class, cats, and yes, friendship, life, love — lifestuff, in other words — this story resonated with me deeply. I’m glad I discovered it. Read it and pass it on to someone you love — which was how I discovered it….

My name is Terrie. I write for a living and blog for pleasure. Some days, I get up in the morning and know precisely what kind of day it is. At other times, I get knocked over for a loop. People seem to like confiding in me. When I was younger, I thought I knew everything and can tell you what you need to do if you ask me. Now that I'm older, I realize I don't know anything. That's been my motivation for the blog and for writing. To figure out the unknown and unknowable.
